A compact speaker kit with true high-end capabilities.

This kit was designed with a simple goal: deliver true high-end loudspeaker performance in a format that is approachable, repeatable, and genuinely rewarding to build.

At the center of the design is a beryllium tweeter, chosen for its exceptional stiffness-to-mass ratio and its ability to deliver extremely low distortion, high resolution, and clean detail without becoming harsh or fatiguing.

The Veritas LD25B-06 tweeter is paired with a carefully matched midwoofer and a fully engineered crossover to create a speaker that is balanced, dynamic, and easy to enjoy for long listening sessions.

Close-up of CSS Veritas One beryllium tweeter

The Veritas beryllium tweeter is the heart of the design.

Designed as a complete system, not a box of parts.

Like all of our kits, the Veritas One is fully engineered so every part has a reason to be there. The drivers, cabinet alignment, crossover topology, damping, porting, and assembly approach are all selected to work together.

Matched Drivers

Selected for tonal balance, low distortion, and smooth integration.

Engineered Crossover

Designed for seamless driver integration, balanced response, and strong real-world performance.

Repeatable Build

SmartNode boards and optional flat packs help remove uncertainty from the process.

CSS Veritas One Superior crossover components

Superior crossover components are included with every build.

What you can expect.

Refined Detail

A clean, highly detailed top end that avoids the etched or fatiguing sound people often associate with “detail.”

Natural Vocals

Strong midrange clarity and tonal balance help vocals and instruments sound believable.

System Scaling

Better electronics and better recordings are easy to hear as the rest of your system improves.

Specifications & Measurements

Engineered, measured, and validated as a complete system.

The Veritas One was designed as a complete loudspeaker system, not just a collection of premium parts. The crossover, cabinet tuning, drivers, and acoustic response were developed together to deliver the same balanced, full-range presentation the 1TD-X is known for, with the added refinement and resolution of the Veritas LD25B-06 beryllium tweeter.

Measurement Data

The Veritas One was measured and refined to deliver a smooth response both on-axis and off-axis, helping it maintain natural tonal balance in real rooms instead of sounding good only from one narrow listening position.

Frequency Response

Smooth, extended response with identical bass performance of the Criton 1TD-X while adding the refinement of the beryllium tweeter.

Vertical Polar

How does this compare to the Criton 1TD-X?

The Criton 1TD-X has been one of our most popular kits for good reason: it offers excellent bass extension, very low distortion, and a big, full-range presentation that surprises a lot of people for a bookshelf-sized speaker.

The Veritas One keeps the same strong bass and midrange character the 1TD-X is known for. Overall, it has an almost identical frequency response both on and off-axis, but it leans further into top-end refinement, resolution, imaging, and detail retrieval.

Criton 1TD-X

The proven all-around performer

Choose the 1TD-X if you want our most established compact kit, excellent bass extension, and a speaker that does everything well at a more affordable price.

Veritas One

The refined reference option

Choose the Veritas One if you want the familiar CSS balance with a more premium, resolved, and detailed top end from the beryllium tweeter.

Ready for a serious compact speaker build?

We build and assemble these kits in batches, and certain components—particularly the beryllium tweeter—can have longer lead times depending on supply.

If this is a project you’re considering, it’s generally best not to wait too long.
